In 2024, the market experienced an evolution of pure meme coins > celebrity coins > art tokens > AI/tech/functional tokens. At that time, the replacement of mainstream hot spots in the market was relatively clear - when and what themes became the market outlets, there were often clear boundaries and timelines. However, fast forward to 2025, and we see a chaotic scene of tokens: past hot projects are struggling to compete for market attention - they were once glorious, but now most of them have experienced a 70-90% retracement. The meme is fading.
There are always countless trading opportunities in the meme market, the key is to find those that have not been squeezed out. Of course, the vast majority of tokens may end up being nothing, but you can at least put them on your watch list, leave yourself a note, or set a price alert so that you can check back at the right time.
Brand new meme tracks and technology concepts are competing fiercely, and the market landscape is becoming more complex. In this chaos, we are beginning to see multiple tokens with different themes and different life cycles coexisting at the same time. However, it is important to realize that market liquidity, like our attention, is cyclical. Today's headline hot spots may be ignored tomorrow, and no one can predict tomorrow's hot spots.
As the market cools down after the Trump Token craze, I see more bearish comments. Indeed, it is hard to imagine what will happen next that will surpass that wave of enthusiasm, and at least for now, I personally cannot see a clear direction for the time being. Nevertheless, I still welcome this slowdown in the market. As someone who prefers to hold rather than short-term trading, I benefit more from such a market environment.
The meme coin sector has undergone significant evolution, moving from pure viral tokens to celebrity-backed coins, art-related tokens, and tech-driven narratives. While once-clear market trends have become increasingly chaotic, one thing remains constant: market participants always chase the latest meta, abandoning past narratives unless a compelling reason reignites interest.
